Avenger Class

Class: Avenger Class
Classification: Cruiser
Crew Capacity: 315
Tonnage: 190,000 mt

Class Overview
Built in the 2280's, the Avenger is intended to operate with the Constitution, Excelsior, and Miranda classes, the Avengers where to act in the role of scouts and conduct general support missions during fleet actions. They where designed to be very small and agile, and as a result the Avenger has limited weaponry and a relatively poor standard of accommodation and cargo facilities. This has prevented them from being used regularly on long duration missions, a problem which recurred with the Defiant and Saber classes in later years.

The hull form of the Avenger clearly shows the ship to be a contemporary of the Excelsior generation, minus the huge secondary hull. Her nacelles are large for a ship of this size, a feature she shares with the Excelsior. She is equipped with phaser banks rather than arrays as well as two phaser turrets, the fore father to the phaser arrays used in the 24th century. The Avenger is equipped with four torpedo tubes, two forward and two aft, and a limited stock of reloads.

The Avenger has proved popular with her crews.

Bridge:

Located in the center of the bridge is the Captain’s chair. The Captain’s chair is located at the back entryway into the command center of the bridge at the top of a three step drop down to the Navigator/Helmsman consoles. The Captain’s chair offers no readouts on the chair itself but is positioned so the Captain can see information on four displays located on the center base of the Navigator/Helmsman Consoles. There is a War Room located off to the left of the MSD in the engineering alcove.

Conn:

The Conn station is located fore/port of the Captain’s chair in the command center.

Operations:

There is an Ops station located on the fore/starboard side of the Captain’s chair in the command center. The Ops station is used primarily as a communications / damage control / navigation station and cannot override departments from there.

Science:

There is one science station located fore/port between the turbolift and main viewscreen. It is large enough for four crew members to utilize at the same time.
The system is designed to divide duties between directed scans and monitoring internal sensors with her Class VIII sensors.

Tactical:

Tactical Station stands fore/starboard of the command center. Tactical controls fourteen phasers arranged in banks— Four fire in the F/P/S arcs, four in the F/P/A arcs, four in the F/S/A arcs and two in the P/S/A arcs. There are four photon torpedo launchers controlled at the tactical station, two forward and two aft. The ship has storage for seventy photon torpedoes. The ship also houses two phaser turrets which are not controlled at the tactical station but instead require gunners at the turrets to fire.

Engineering:

Located at the rear of the bridge where there is a large Master Ship Display located in an alcove with a station for the engineers in front of it.

Environmental:

Environmental is part of the Engineering station and is monitored and controlled there.

Computer Core:

The computer of the Avenger Class is an isolinear system with a Duotronic interface. The system will also respond to voice commands in certain areas of the ship (i.e. The War Room, Sickbay, all Department Heads' offices, all crew quarters).

Life Support:

The Life Support system on the Avenger Class uses processors and Graviton Engines.

Replicators:

There are only four Replicators on the Avenger Class. One Replicator is located in sickbay to replicate materials for medical needs, one replicator is located in engineering to repllcate replacement parts, and the replicator in the war room and CO’s quarters are the only two which can replicate food. There is a galley and officer’s mess for the crew to eat three meals a day.

Sickbay:

Sickbay on the Avenger Class houses the following facilities:
Clinic, research, ICU, surgical and isolation

Transporters

There are a total of six transporters on the Avenger Class. Three are standard personnel transporters capable of transporting up to six people at one time. Two transporters are emergency transporters capable of transporting up to 22 people at one time. The last transporter is a cargo transporter.

IMPulse Drive:

The I.M. Pulse Drive on the Avenger Class is capable of sustaining a speed of .3c.

Warp Propulsion:

The Avenger Class utilizes two oversized warp nacelles. The safe cruising speed is warp factor 6 with a maximum safe cruising speed of warp 8.5. The Avenger Class can sustain a maximum emergency speed of warp 9 for twelve hours. The Avenger Class has an operational range of 100,000LY.

Support Craft:

The Avenger Class houses one shuttle bay large enough for two shuttles at a time, it can have one additional shuttle attached via a docking port at the bottom of the shuttle bay.
